​Walks For Wellbeing
​Peer-support in the fresh air...

Our Walks for Wellbeing are:

  • Safe and welcoming
  • A space to chat to others and feel supported 
  • An opportunity to get some fresh air and gentle exercise

​Boost your mood in the great outdoors by joining your friendly and caring local walking and peer support group.

We run a variety of walks to suit everyone - a free cuppa en route always included! ​

Our story

Healthy Minds Walks For Wellbeing were born in 2013, following a discussion between Volunteer Helen and Volunteer Coordinator Cath about the benefits of nature and exercise on mental health.

Today the group is entirely volunteer-led, with a large group of volunteers leading a varied programme of walks across Calderdale.

Our walks vary in difficulty, we have wheelchair accessible walks, short walks, dog friendly walks, easy and challenging walks that take place throughout the year. Most are circular and accessible by public transport.

Our Walk Guidelines:

Our walks are designed to be safe and welcoming for everyone.

We ask that you please:
  • Accept others without judgement.
  • Look after each other - e.g. go at the slowest person’s pace.
  • Be responsible for yourself. We share responsibility for making our walks wonderful.
  • If there are any issues, tell your volunteer walk leader, who should be able to deal with it there and then. Or take any further issues to the Like Minds team: [email protected]
  • Note that abusive behaviour or language won't be tolerated and people doing this will be asked to leave
  • Remember that conversations, although outdoors, still remain confidential.
  • Note that we regret we cannot accept people under 18 years old unless it has been specifically advertised. This includes babies or toddlers.
Current Walks for Wellbeing by Healthy Minds

To know before you book...

  • You must book onto our walks. This is for safety reasons.
  • You must be fit and able for the walk you choose. If in doubt, chat things through with a member of the Like Minds team beforehand: ring 01422 345154
  • Please wear appropriate footwear and bring rainwear.
  • We usually stop for tea and coffee en route, but please bring water with you.
  • There is usually a toilet on route, please check this when you book as it depends on the walk.
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome, unless advertised as a dog-free walk.
  • We will let you know where to meet beforehand when you book.
  •  Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time
