Information for Parent/Carers

Holding Space takes place on Tuesdays from 4.30 - 6pm.

At: The Basement @ Healthy Minds, 1 King Street, HX1 1SR (opposite Marks and Spencer car park and Halifax Bus Station).

Time Out provide a welcoming and friendly space, designed to help children build their confidence in a small, nurturing group lead by one of their wellbeing workers. There will be a creative activity on offer each week, a chill-out area and the chance to speak to a Time Out worker one-to-one if needed. Refreshments and a snack will be also be provided.

Parents/carers are asked to drop-off and collect their child from the premises. The child should be able to remain at the drop-in independently with a parent/carers present. However, parents are welcome to stay for a short time initially to help them get settled in.

Healthy Minds staff are also available to provide support and advice to parents/carers if needed and will arrange a meeting with parents at the end of the ten weeks to discuss next steps for your child.

What young people say:

"I feel safe here"
"Hearing other people talking about their experiences helped me."
"I understand my emotions and how to release stress."
"It helped me to talk about my feelings in a group."

What parents say:

"It was good for my daughter to step out of her comfort zone and overcome her anxiety in a safe space, where there was no pressure or expectations. She get anxious and overwhelmed easily at school and shuts down, whereas she really enjoyed the sessions and was always happy to attend. I felt like she could breathe, be herself and open up, instead of masking like she does at school. She was really excited to visit the allotment."
