Workshops & Courses
Workshops and courses are created and facilitated by staff and volunteers with personal experience of emotional distress. They are an opportunity to think about and understand yourself better, and to develop skills and resources to support your emotional wellbeing.
We welcome ideas for new workshops as well as which ones you'd like to see repeated.

Headspace recovery courses
are for anyone who is experiencing emotional distress and who wants to better manage their own well-being.
Participants will be encouraged to identify, challenge and change unhelpful thinking, learn new coping strategies and build on their ability to 'bounce back'.

Exploring Personal Values (two-part course)
Tuesday 16th & 30th March 11am-12.30pm When we are connected to what’s important to us, we are more likely to have meaning in our lives. Personal values are essential in guiding us to make positive decisions and they support overall wellbeing. In this workshop we will take some time to explore your personal values; consider what is important and identify ways of how we can become more in tune with our values. Workshops are currently running via Zoom, paper versions can be requested. Thursday 28th January 1.00pm - 3.00pm Do you live with chronic pain or have a long-term health condition? Would you like to live a joyful and fulfilling life? A step by step course designed to help lighten the load of living with pain so that it doesn’t dominate your life.
We will be using the online platform Zoom, so people can attend from the comfort of their home. Booking essential: A £5 suggested donation will help to cover the cost of a copy of the book ‘Mindfulness for Health’ by Vidyamala Burch & Danny Penman, which includes a CD of all guided meditations (normal price £12.50) You will need this book throughout the course and will be yours to keep at the end. Coming out of Lockdown - Feeling Anxious? Zoom Workshop Tuesday 25th May, 11-12.20pm The thought of things going 'back to normal', seeing friends in crowded places, going back to the office, attending family gatherings and travelling on public transport may feel overwhelming, sound tiring and fill you with anxiety. This workshop will provide a welcoming space and opportunity for you to talk about your fears with others and discuss ways which may help you. Tuesday 15th June, 11-12.30pm During lockdown you may have had the chance to think about new things you would like to try or achieve in your life when restrictions are lifted, or you may feel that lockdown has made you retreat into your comfort zone and you can't find any motivation to make change, whether it be to look for a new job, join a social group or take better care of your health to name a few. This workshop will give you the opportunity to talk about your goals with others and learn ways to break them down into small achievable steps as well as inspire each other!
