Volunteering: Roshani
Roshani has been tailored to tackle anti-stigma issues surrounding mental health within the local BME community in Calderdale (mainly Park Ward area).
The project has been designed to overcome any barriers due to cultural differences or language and seeks guidance about community needs from the community itself. We believe by tackling stigma (sharam), people who experience mental ill-health will be better supported by the community and seek treatment at an earlier stage.
We have several volunteers already contributing to the fantastic success of this innovative project but we are always looking for more individuals keen to plan and facilitate workshops, share personal experiences with the community and translate for current facilitators – we are particularly interested in finding speakers of Punjabi, Hindu and Urdu.
Please contact Cath on 01422 345 154 or cath@healthymindscalderdale.co.uk to discuss or to get an application form.
