Volunteering: Time Out
Volunteers are needed to contribute to the design and delivery of workshops in schools and community settings. Volunteers are needed to tell their own stories of mental distress and recovery and to recount experiences of encountering stigma and prejudice in relation to this. Additionally, you would be invited to help facilitate a range of interactive and reflective group discussions and exercises when and if you feel comfortable to do so.
One of our existing volunteers said:
“The night before the first workshop I was very anxious, wondering what exactly I was letting myself in for. The school environment can be a bit triggering /overwhelming and I was convinced that the workshops were going to end in a riot...
...So far I’ve not yet faced a barrage of paper missiles; in fact the response has been positive, with quite a few students making knowledgeable points and some have felt able to share their experiences of mental health problems.”
