What a splashing time was had by all! The fun never stopped on Sunday 9th October when all three Calderdale pools opened their doors to swimmers of all ages and abilities, keen to swim and fundraise for Healthy Minds. Our fabulous swimmers chose their pool, chose their distance and pledged their fundraising target. On the day, we couldn’t have been prouder, everyone dived right in and heroically faced their challenge. Teams from Splash Swim Academy Halifax and Huddersfield swam in our relay category at Sowerby Bridge pool. 20 determined Splash swimmers excelled on the day by smashing their original challenge of 934 lengths (23,350 metres). Motivated by their friends and families' cheers, the teams managed to swim an impressive 1,612 lengths (40,300 metres). And if you’re wondering, that’s an exhausting 25.18 miles! The day was filled with success stories. From individuals, to juniors, to family relay teams, all faced their challenge and reached it or beat it. Everyone, 100% deserved their Big Swim medal. To add to the Big Swim fun, The Mayor of Calderdale went on tour, and visited all three pools to meet with our swimmers and cheer them on. The Mayor’s last stop was Todmorden, just in time to award Nikki her well-deserved medal. The Mayor of Todmorden was also there, supporting our swimmers and presenting medals throughout the afternoon. All these amazing swimmers made a splash for mental health in Calderdale. Together they managed to raise, including gift aid, over £7,500! Nearly 400 people supported our swimmers and donated to Healthy Minds. Thank you! Your support means the world.
