Thank you to all who joined us on World Suicide Prevention Day at Dean Clough to create a moving artwork: 257 handmade lanterns, each representing someone who died by suicide in the latest year of registered deaths (2023). We lit each of these lanterns in the knowledge that even a single death is already one too many. We also know that there is power in coming together to remember those we have lost, and through this shared experience we can find a collective resolve to prevent further deaths by suicide. At the event, we heard from some of our Network members, who shared powerful stories of loss and hope. We thank you for gifting us with your words and deep meaning. Our time for quiet reflection held space for remembrance, solidarity and empathy, feelings which through the Suicide Prevention Network, we are determined to transform into hope and action.
