Be Involved

We describe ourselves as an organisation 'led by lived experience'.

This means we listen to our communities and speak up for positive change on issues relating to mental health and wellbeing.

We see people's mental health experiences as valuable forms of knowledge, and understanding these helps to inform what we do. Capturing and understanding people's experiences of distress, disability or using services is vital to ensure our organisation remains rooted in lived experience knowledge.

We can also use our collective knowledge to influence wider systems and public bodies, advocating for change in the environments and systems that cause and worsen poor mental health.

Anyone can be involved in our organisation, as we all have mental health. You do not need to have had used services, or identify as having experienced distress to contribute to our involvement projects.

Ways to get involved

The Forum is a collaborative space to create change. Anyone is welcome join our monthly meetings and take part in discussions and action groups. Our mission is for ordinary people to be empowered to take action for better mental health in Calderdale. (18+)
